Comparing Short Stories “The Sniper” and “The Most...

â€Å"The Sniper† and â€Å"The Most Dangerous† Game are both different stories, written by different authors. Liam O’Flaherty is the author of â€Å"The Sniper†. He was born on one of Ireland’s Aran Islands, in a large family. Since the Aran Islands have a tradition of oral storytelling, Liam O’Flaherty’s house was full of different kinds of stories. He also wrote about Irish peasant life and captured the struggles of the Irish Civil War. His best known novel is â€Å"The Informal†, and it talks about a betrayal set during the Irish Troubles. The author of â€Å"The Most Dangerous Game† is Richard Connell. Richard Connell is an American author and journalist, who wrote a lot of short stories and few novels. While, â€Å"The Most Dangerous Game† has many different settings, first it was on the deck of a ship, and it moved on to the water, where Rainsford had to swim, until he reached the island. From there he went to General Zaroff’s castle, from there, the setting once again moved to the forest where there hunting game started. As we all know, all stories have main characters. In the story â€Å"The Sniper†, there is only one main character, which is the sniper. There are other characters such as the old woman which was an informer, and of course, there were many other enemies, mainly the army. While, in the story â€Å"The Most Dangerous Game†, the main characters were Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff, Ivan can also be considered one of the main characters. Of course, there are other characters such as Whitney, in the beginning of the story, and there are also General Zaroff’s dogs. Though both stories have so many differences, they also share many similarities. Both stories, â€Å"The Sniper† and â€Å"The Most Dangerous Game†, have a dark, serious mood. This mood makes both stories more exciting and suspenseful. Both stories are about risks, which mean that deaths will happen in the story.
